Meet your guide here for a half day tour and visit the Meir District to visit the Stadsfeestzaal (Shopping center with Belle Époque grandeur) and for some tasting of exquisite pralines at Chocolate Line in the Palace on the Meir. Amsterdam Full Day self-guided Giethoorn and Zaanse Schans Windmills Tour

Today, you will visit two of Holland’s most popular attractions on your own in one great day: Zaanse Schans, a picturesque windmill village, and the magical village of Giethoorn, including a one-hour boat tour in its beautiful canals.

You will begin your day in your rental car with a drive in the Dutch green countryside to the reconstructed village Zaanse Schans. Here you will visit a clog workshop, where you will see a demonstration of clog production.

You will then meander through the village pathways among the old wooden houses and the many windmills. The banks of the Zaan river, where the village is situated, offer the greatest windmill panorama in the Netherlands.

At Giethoorn we recommend you take a boat ride in the canals to view the picturesque fairy-tale houses and allow free time for wandering in the village on foot. The ride back to Amsterdam will take you through the great polders, the land reclaimed from the sea.

If you return to Amsterdam before 6pm this evening, you will return your rental car and embrace the local modes of transportation, walking or biking (or the metro) for the rest of your trip.

If you return after 6pm, you will simply return the car rental tomorrow morning. Please note the city location of the car rental office is open Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to noon & closed Sunday.

Amsterdam's Museums, Including Anne Frank House

You have this full day at your leisure to explore the city’s many museums, including the Anne Frank House.

An extremely sad story for a Jewish family forced into hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands. You will have tickets that guarantee you will have access at exactly a set time although you may have to wait a few moment before entering.
Visitors are encouraged to keep moving through. It's only a small narrow place, however, the only time you may have to wait for just a minute or two is when going upstairs behind the bookcase. Otherwise, you just keep moving. Some of the more interesting exhibits may have people crowding around them, but you can pass by.

Note: People who have difficulty walking, may have trouble climbing the steep staircases that are characteristic of the old Amsterdam canal-side houses.

Note online tickets are available on the Anne Frank website. Every Tuesday at 10am CET all tickets become available for a visit six weeks later. You can opt for a museum visit or a museum visit with an introductory program.

Important note: We are no longer allowed to arrange tickets per Anne Frank House rules:
Article 2.5 The Anne Frank House wants to give as many individuals and (school) groups as possible the opportunity to visit the Anne Frank House, at an entry price determined by us. Travel organisations / tour operators may not make bookings for third parties.

The best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country

My wife and I have used Yampu 4 or 5 times now to plan our travel for us. They have access to the best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country we’ve used them to visit – from Portugal to Cambodia and from Peru to Iceland. This most recent trip to Iceland was perfect. Two days in Reykjavik, where we did a walking tour of the city, a food tour, the Fly Over Iceland experience, and some shopping and relaxing. Then 2 nights at the Retreat Spa – which is a very special experience in itself that is hard to describe – and then two nights in the countryside where our private guide took us to all of the main attractions on the Golden Circle and South Coast. Private guides mean no waiting, front row parking and VIP access everywhere, and wonderful knowledgeable guides without a lot of time herding on and off of buses and going places that may not interest you. It is a bit more expensive, although not as much as you might think, often less than a high end group tour — without the group. Yampu has planned each trip just for us, exactly what we want to do, and not anything we don’t – and it has always worked out great – highly recommend.
