Tour Overview

This short two night safari will bring you to Savute, the southwest region of Chobe National Park. Situated overlooking a waterhole where animals come to drink, the Savute Safari Lodge has a viewing deck, so you can have the chance to experience incredible wildlife interactions without even leaving the comforts of the lodge. However, you won’t want to miss one of the many game drives to the famous Savute Marsh or the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills.

The Savute Safari Lodge offers private colorful glass and timber chalets, constructed with thatched roofs to create a uniquely modern themed African décor. These comfortable and stylish chalets are elegantly furnished and have private decks, combined bedroom and sitting areas, and en-suite bathrooms. In addition, the main building has the comforts of a communal sitting area, a library, a cocktail bar, and a pool, not to mention an on-premises wildlife viewing deck.

As part of Chobe National Park, the Savute region is most well known for the wildlife populated Savute Marsh, which is misleadingly dry. Nevertheless, because this region has no perennial water sources, animals are forced to crowd at watering holes that remain from the wet season, thus creating an unbelievable density of animals here. In particular, this region is home to a large population of resident bull elephants and lion prides. It is also well known for harboring thousands of Zebra that migrate there to graze on the lush grasses during the summer months. Although the lodge has a viewing deck, don’t miss out on the chance to track all of these animals through the popular Savute Marsh.

I highly recommend Yampu as a company and Karolina in particular as an agent.

Karolina Guilcapi at Yampu Tours has provided excellent service for me and my brother on two separate trips, one to Mexico last August and, more recently, South Africa (and Botswana and Zimbabwe) last month. In particular on the South Africa trip she worked closely with me to combine and fine tune a number of their tours. I appreciated her recommendation to go to several game reserves and parks, rather than a lot of time at one. And my brother had some last minute complicated logistics (scheduling an all-day teleconference in the middle of our trip and rescheduling his flights when he missed his original flights) for which Karolina was instrumental in coordinating. I highly recommend Yampu as a company and Karolina in particular as an agent.

The trip you set up for me was flawless.

The trip you set up for me was flawless. The guide met all my expectations. He was helpful and protective. I did learn that in Africa, time is a relative thing. I soon learned that when James told me we were one half hour from anywhere, I could count on an hour. I saw every major animal, but one, including the Black Rino, one of the most endangers specie in the Crater. I took 900 pictures. I can tell you without a doubt, that your people can take care of a person my age and should promote that fact. I loved Nxabega. However, I was prevented from going to my tent for a rest when a family of Elephants started eating the trees between the lunch area and my tent. They were all first rate camps, but Sopa was exceptional. If you wish me to fill out anything, let me know. One funny story. I needed to go to the bathroom. James asked me to wait while he drove about a half a mile to high ground, so he could watch out for animals while I attended to the problem behind his 4×4. As we get to about fifty yards from the place we planned to stop; three lions walked over the hill and past our vehicle. You would be surprised how fast the urge to go disappears under these circumstances.

We had an amazing time

We had an amazing time. Africa exceeded every expectation that we had. The weather was outstanding, the food was good. The guides (with the exception of Johannesburg) were great. I only wound up taking 687 pictures. I’m now trying to get these into my computer and into a file that I can send to my friends. They all want to see what we experienced. I have mentioned Yampu several times to friends, telling them how pleased we were with your services. We won’t hesitate to recommend you and Yampu in the future. Thanks for playing such a great role in making this a most unforgettable vacation.
