Salzburg

Your guide and driver will meet you in the hotel lobby to take you on a private 4-hour Sound of Music Tour.

As a Broadway musical, "The Sound of Music" by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II was already a huge success. However, Robert Wise's 1965 movie featuring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer became a top-selling sensation worldwide. Nothing else could have made Salzburg so popular overseas. That's why we invite you to a tour through Salzburg and its magnificent surroundings as shown in the movie, including the Lake District and the Wedding Church in Mondsee.

In the evening, you'll dine like the princes of old! The Fortress Funicular makes it easy for you to 'conquer' the 900-year-old Hohensalzburg Fortress. The transfer service, which begins 30 minutes before dinner, is included in the ticket price. The 3-course meal is served in the historical setting of the fortress. Beautifully 'seasoned' with one-of-a-kind scenery, the panorama restaurant enthroned high above the city allows you to literally gaze down upon Salzburg. Dinner is followed by the culinary highlight of the evening: a Fortress Concert in the Golden Hall or the Burgsaal.

High above the rooftops of Salzburg, with a breathtaking and unbeatable view of the city of Mozart and its surroundings, the most beloved works of Mozart to Bach are played in front of you by the Salzburg Advent Ensemble in the most beautiful rooms which the fortress has to offer. It's a concert experience of the highest quality. ...read less

The best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country

My wife and I have used Yampu 4 or 5 times now to plan our travel for us. They have access to the best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country we’ve used them to visit – from Portugal to Cambodia and from Peru to Iceland. This most recent trip to Iceland was perfect. Two days in Reykjavik, where we did a walking tour of the city, a food tour, the Fly Over Iceland experience, and some shopping and relaxing. Then 2 nights at the Retreat Spa – which is a very special experience in itself that is hard to describe – and then two nights in the countryside where our private guide took us to all of the main attractions on the Golden Circle and South Coast. Private guides mean no waiting, front row parking and VIP access everywhere, and wonderful knowledgeable guides without a lot of time herding on and off of buses and going places that may not interest you. It is a bit more expensive, although not as much as you might think, often less than a high end group tour — without the group. Yampu has planned each trip just for us, exactly what we want to do, and not anything we don’t – and it has always worked out great – highly recommend.
