Tour Overview

When South Korea comes to mind, many think of the Metropolis of Seoul, but don’t forget the Breathtaking Landscape of Korea! Outside of the bustling capital of South Korea, there is much to explore that simply should not be overlooked when planning your Korean adventure. Experience the country’s eccentricities with a stroll through Petite France, a small French cultural village and youth training facility. Just outside of Petite France is the lovely tree lined island of Nami whose gorgeous landscape has been well preserved with power lines virtually nonexistent as they have been constructed underground. Continue westward to Seoraksan National Park, a gorgeous mountainous reserve that spans several counties with its massive mountain ranges. During the summer the rivers and streams expand greatly, and in autumn the colors of the foliage put on a delightful show of orange and red hues, a spectacular event not to be missed. No matter the season, South Korea offers a splendid natural experience.

Nami Island and Petite France

Namiseom read more...

Namiseom Island was formed as a result of the construction of the Cheongpyeong Dam. It is a half-moon shaped (462,809?) isle that is home to the grave of General Nami, who led a great victory against the rebels in the 7th king of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo (reign 1455-1468). Namiseom Island is 63 km away from Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon, and is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads. The island is 30 minutes away from Chuncheon and an hour away from suburbs of Seoul. Since it is not far from Seoul, many couples and families come to visit. The concept of Petite France encapsulates 'flowers, stars, and the Little Prince.' The village contains a memorial hall dedicated to Saint-Exupery, the author of the celebrated French novel, Le Petit Prince (1943) and as such, it is called the Little Prince Theme Park. It also has a gallery displaying sculptures and paintings of le coq gaulois (the Gallic rooster), the national symbol of France; Orgel House where a 200-year-old music box plays a sweet melody; a shop that sells herbal and aromatic products; a souvenir shop; and many other locales where you can experience French culture. ...read less

Mt. Seorak and Everland

The Mt. Seorak National Park attracts many national and international tourists all year round, but the main season for Seoraksan national park is autumn. The autumn colors in the area are considered amongst the most beautiful in Korea. The red and yellow forest is surrounded by rocks and small mountain streams flow amidst this. During the rainy season in summer-especially after a typhoon-these streams can swell in size. Perhaps the most visited part of the mountain is the main entrance valley to the National Park, a fifteen-minute drive from Sokcho city. The valley runs west to east with a paved road leading up to the park's entrance gate. This valley contains many beautiful sites and is well worth a day visit. Gwongeumseong Fortress is the site of castle ruins called Mt. Seoraksan, it is also known as Mt. Onggeumsan Castle, or Toto Castle. It is located on the steep Dol Mountain of Mt. Seoraksan Sogongwon area. It is believed to have been built by the 23rd King of the Goryeo Period (918-1392), Gojong (1213-1259 reign). It is also called Gwon-Kim Castle, as there is a legend that two generals, Gwon and Kim, built the castle to avoid war. At the left side of Sogongwon, past the Biryonggyo Bridge over the ravine, there is a path that leads to Gwongeumseong Castle. It does, however, take over an hour of travel through the steep, rocky path (2.5km). For your convenience, there are also cable cars available to transport you to the castle should you choose not to hike the path. ...read less
