Today morning on time after breakfast, enjoy a visit to the Western Group of Temples at Khajuraho.
The temples were built during the Chandela dynasty; the majorities were constructed in a sudden burst of creative and religious energy, between the mid-10th and 11th centuries. After ruling for about 500 years the Chandela dynasty fell to the might of Islam and consequently the religious centre of Khajuraho was abandoned. The temples remain as a reminder of a society that believed in the full enjoyment of life, with all the senses being a path to nirvana. Of the 85 original temples only 22 remain, but many are in very good condition.
Later return back to the lodge and relax or you may explore the surrounding rural countryside by foot or on bicycles and experience a side of India a tourist rarely sees. Interact with our neighbors, visit a local school, share in the rituals at a local temple, watch bricks being made or just enjoy the view of small shrines, village ponds and the rural farming life of the local community.

Thank you so much for making this a unique and very special adventure for us….
We had an outstanding trip, thanks to you!! We both feel that every travel detail was seamlessly handled for us so we did not have to think about anything but enjoying our travels. You did an amazing job for us!!
What was an incredible trip to view and photograph chimpanzees and gorillas also tuned out to be a trip to meet and fall in love with the land and people of Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda! Our guide in Tanzania, Sexton, was delightful and excellent in making sure our experience was exactly what we wanted. Although our time was short with him, we truly enjoyed every minute with him.
We also just couldn’t have had a better guide than, Eric Nodorere, who became a very dear friend and cherished travel companion throughout our extended travels through Rwanda and Uganda. Indeed we have never spent so much concentrated time with anyone except our children and wouldn’t have had it another way. Eric was very observant and sensitive to making sure everything went perfectly without our even noticing which is the definition of “exceeding expectations”! Our lively and open conversations together as we spent hours together only enhanced our experience and lead to a deep understanding for all of us which was very enriching and satisfying.
We truly shared some amazing experiences with Eric who was also astute enough to know that we like to be in charge of our own schedules and frequently like to wander off by ourselves. He graciously supported our requests and gave us space and time to do everything at our own pace. Having the freedom to get out on our own meeting and getting to know people in their own environment is one of the best ways to gain understanding and appreciation of the world and enrich our lives and perhaps the lives of those we encounter.
I will send you a couple of videos in a separate email that gives a glimpse of only some of our experiences. I am now looking forward to getting into my Art Studio and expressing our beautiful time in Africa.
Thank you so much, Stephanie, for making this a unique and very special adventure for us….

India and Sri Lanka were an amazing combination
India and Sri Lanka were an amazing combination! The hustle of India is exciting, but also overwhelming so including Sri Lanka toward the end of our itinerary was an amazing way to relax and unwind! In India we were blown away by the service at the Deluxe hotels, and even the 4-star hotels. The hospitality in India is incredible with everyone working to make sure you are comfortable and happy. We loved the Oberoi hotels, the rooms were beautiful and the service was immaculate. The sites in India were truly amazing and we loved the elephant safaris and interactions were we were able to bathe and paint these gentle giants! During our long transfers in India our driver was pleasant, providing us with interesting facts but not overwhelming us with too many details or idle chatter. In Sri Lanka we absolutely loved the Temple of the Tooth, the atmosphere is so humbling and spiritual; absolutely a must-see! We loved the ancient site of Polonnaruwa and the lying down Buddha and the elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. We also really enjoyed climbing the Sigiriya rock fortress, although its not the best option for those who are scared of heights!
