Potsdam

Today, you will embark on a full-day tour to explore the enchanting city of Potsdam! Your guide and driver will be at your service, ready to pick you up from the hotel lobby.

Potsdam is renowned for its magnificent palaces and parks, designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites, which harken back to its historical role as the former royal capital of Prussia. Throughout this tour, you will have the opportunity to witness the city's most remarkable attractions, including the iconic Glienicke Bridge. This bridge once served as a crucial connection between Potsdam and Berlin, where clandestine exchanges of secret agents and spies between East and West persisted until the 1980s.

Following this intriguing visit, you will proceed to explore the Dutch Quarter and the renowned Nauener and Brandenburg Gates. Next on our itinerary is Cecilienhof Palace, the final castle erected by the Hohenzollern dynasty. In 1945, this palace hosted the historic Potsdam Conference, where the four victorious powers made crucial decisions regarding the division of Berlin and Germany.

Continuing on our journey, we will arrive at the illustrious Sanssouci Palace. No other castle is as closely linked to Frederick the Great as Sanssouci. This splendid palace served as his summer residence, and its name, Sanssouci, meaning "without worries," encapsulates the king's guiding principle and aspiration. Here, the king enjoyed the company of his closest friends, the intellectual elite of his court, and enlightened scientists and writers from Italy and France. Admission to the castles is included in the tour package.

The best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country

My wife and I have used Yampu 4 or 5 times now to plan our travel for us. They have access to the best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country we’ve used them to visit – from Portugal to Cambodia and from Peru to Iceland. This most recent trip to Iceland was perfect. Two days in Reykjavik, where we did a walking tour of the city, a food tour, the Fly Over Iceland experience, and some shopping and relaxing. Then 2 nights at the Retreat Spa – which is a very special experience in itself that is hard to describe – and then two nights in the countryside where our private guide took us to all of the main attractions on the Golden Circle and South Coast. Private guides mean no waiting, front row parking and VIP access everywhere, and wonderful knowledgeable guides without a lot of time herding on and off of buses and going places that may not interest you. It is a bit more expensive, although not as much as you might think, often less than a high end group tour — without the group. Yampu has planned each trip just for us, exactly what we want to do, and not anything we don’t – and it has always worked out great – highly recommend.
