Tour Overview

Add the Tantalizing Taipei and Taroko Add On to any Asia experience for an extended trip! Starting off in the exciting city of Taipei, stop by the National Palace Museum to learn of Chinese imperial arts and to witness some of the finest jade collections in the world. Continue on exploring some of the cities must see highlights with some time at leisure. One suggested stop is at the Taipei 101 building to appreciate the fine blend of modern architecture crossing with traditional Taiwanese heritage. The following morning, be met at the hotel to transfer to Taroko. The famous park has an assortment of natural and man made attractions. Witness the famous Taroko Gorge with its immense marble walls carved out by millions of years of erosion from the Liwu river. At the Cimu Bridge, appreciate the most magnificent views of Taroko Gorge’s massive marble walled cliffs before passing through the Tunnel of Nine Turns to eventually reach the Eternal Spring Shrine. Enjoy a nice layover in Taipei, or spend a week in Taiwan and learn of all that this little island country has to offer!

Welcome to Taiwan!

Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), be met and transferred to this evening’s accommodations by private car. The remainder of the day will be at leisure.
Check in to the hotel is at 3 pm. Early check in may be available directly at the hotel subject to availability. One may store their luggage at the hotel until they are able to check in.

Taipei

After breakfast, enjoy a tour of Taipei city! Begin at the impressive Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall before heading over to the National Palace Museum, where 5,000 years of Chinese imperial arts and jade collections are exhibited. Next make a stop at Martyrs' Shrine of traditional architecture and watch the change of Honor Guards. Continue on to a local Taiwanese temple, and Taipei Handicraft Center. The remainder of the day will be free to explore independently.

Taroko National Park

After breakfast, visit Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful, narrow ravine created by the Liwu river which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock winds through forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below, a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. Yampu travelers will pass by Tunnel of Nine Turns, Ci Mu Bridge and will stop at Swallow Grotto and Changchun Temple (Eternal Spring Shrine). Head back to Taipei with a stop at Cingshui Cliff, and drive through Syue-Shan Long Tunnel (12.9 Kms) to arrive back at the hotel at around 6 PM. ...read less

Flight Home

This morning, be picked up at hotel. Pass by the Presidential Building- home of the highest seat of government in Taiwan for over a century. Then visit Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall which is in the heart of the city and home to several classical Chinese buildings, including the stately memorial itself as well as the National Concert Hall and National Theater. You'll also enjoy the sites of Martyrs' Shrine, Traditional Taiwanese Temple, National Palace Museum and the Handicraft Center.     Taroko National Park is one of eight major National Parks in Taiwan. Carved out by the Liwu River, the park owes its namesake to the famous marble Gorge whose impressive relief draws in travelers and explorers alike. Featuring many hiking trails, explorers can venture through the park through the various terrain. Make a stop at one of the various points of interests within the park such as Swallow Grotto, where one can see the great depth of the park’s gorge as well as witness the swallows whose homes are within the cliff side.
