Tour Overview

Enjoy your Tanzania safari with a paradisiacal beach getaway on the island of Zanzibar. Experience African wildlife in the classic locations including Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Then, spend the remainder of your trip taking in the sun on the white sand beaches of Zanzibar and exploring its unique and rich culture.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Arusha to spend the night. The following day, you will begin the safari circuit in Tarangire National Park. The park’s 2,850 square kilometers is home to many wetland areas and is especially known for large herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees. In addition to its variety of classic African animals, the park also offers a unique insight into the Maasai culture and way of life.

After two nights in Tarangire, the next two nights will be spent at the Ngorongoro Crater, a large, un-flooded volcanic caldera which formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself millions of years ago. Within the crater’s rim are plains teeming with herds of animals, while the surrounding highlands offer views that are out of this world.

Next, you will spend the following four nights in the Serengeti, easily the country’s most renowned park and also the largest. Its far reaching plains of endless grass, tinged with the twisted shadows of acaicia tree have made it the quintessential image of a wild and untarnished Africa. It is also home to the annual wildebeest migration, where more then a million animals make the seasonal journey into the plains.

Lastly, the remaining three nights will be spent in Zanzibar, which boasts a rich mix of Arabic and African cultures, powder white beaches, turquoise waters, and a tropical climate. Enjoy plenty of water activities from snorkeling and scuba diving to traditional dhow sailing and fishing. For a quick break from the beach, you will also have the chance to explore the local spice fields where you can sample and purchase these aromatic herbs straight from the source!

Spices of Zanzibar Tour

After embark on a fascinating Spice Tour. Then, pass the Marahubi Palace Ruins. All that remain of these ruins today are their foundations. A short history of these ruins will be explained by a guide. The Spice Tour, however, centers around a guided walk around a spice farm producing herbs and spices, fruits and other crops and are given a fascinating description of their uses, with plenty of opportunity for smelling and tasting. There is ample opportunity to purchase packaged spices, essential oils and trinkets at the local stall. This excursion also includes entrance fees to the House of Wonders Museum of History and Culture of Zanzibar and the Swahili Coast. Because of recent archaeological work in the area, this museum has a rich array of object in which the history of the location is revealed. ...read less

Places You'll See

  • Arusha-Yampu-Tanzania

    Arusha

Well known for its night life and club scene, Arusha is a city of excitement. Visit the National Natural History Museum with exhibits on early man and local animal life and plants. Take in the history of Arusha with a visit to the local museum and the Uhuru monument for the Declaration of Arusha. Along with some history lessons, enjoy a mixture of local cuisine combined with other world gastronomies.

  • Tarangire National Park

Witness the dry red lands of Tarangire National Park as a herd of elephants scratch for underground streams and migratory zebras quench their thirsts from the shrinking lagoons under the hot African Sun. During the rainy season, witness hundreds of animals flocking to the increasing bodies of waters and animals lounging in the magical sausage trees.

  • national-park-ngorongoro-tanzania

    Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a crater caused by a collapsed volcano, is now home to a wide variety of wildlife and vegetation. With one of the densest populations of lions in the world, there’s a good chance of spotting one, along with zebra, buffalo, and even black rhinos. Also home to Olduvai Gorge, considered the seat of humanity.

  • Serengeti National Park

Famous for its annual migration of nearly two million zebra and wildebeest, the Tanzanian national park of the Serengeti hosts many walks of wildlife including the “big five”; The Masi Lion, African Leopard, African Bush Elephant, Eastern Black Rhinoceros, and the African Buffalo. Declared a world heritage site, this national park provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the local wildlife.

  • indian-ocean-sunset-zanzibar-tanzania

    Zanzibar

A fascinating place to visit, Zanzibar is still a mixture of all the historical and cultural influences that have passed through the island over the past 500 years. It may have developed in recent years to welcome tourists onto its powder white beaches but in some ways as you take in the narrow streets of Stone Town or watch the traditional dhow boats heading off to find their daily catch you could be forgiven for thinking that time has stood still.

The trip you set up for me was flawless.

The trip you set up for me was flawless. The guide met all my expectations. He was helpful and protective. I did learn that in Africa, time is a relative thing. I soon learned that when James told me we were one half hour from anywhere, I could count on an hour. I saw every major animal, but one, including the Black Rino, one of the most endangers specie in the Crater. I took 900 pictures. I can tell you without a doubt, that your people can take care of a person my age and should promote that fact. I loved Nxabega. However, I was prevented from going to my tent for a rest when a family of Elephants started eating the trees between the lunch area and my tent. They were all first rate camps, but Sopa was exceptional. If you wish me to fill out anything, let me know. One funny story. I needed to go to the bathroom. James asked me to wait while he drove about a half a mile to high ground, so he could watch out for animals while I attended to the problem behind his 4×4. As we get to about fifty yards from the place we planned to stop; three lions walked over the hill and past our vehicle. You would be surprised how fast the urge to go disappears under these circumstances.
