Uxmal and Kebah

Enjoy today’s incredible excursion to the archeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah. Uxmal was built around 700 A.D. The rich, green, fertile land provides a perfect setting for some of the most magnificent ancient pyramids, buildings and temples of the ancient Mayan world. One can sense the history here while walking around and gazing at the stunning architecture and majestic layout of this ancient city. The Piramide del Adivino (the Oracle’s Pyramid) stands majestically above other buildings, and a climb to its summit allows for a spectacular view of the entire half-square-mile ancient city. Kabah is located south of Uxmal connecting both archeological sites by a grand 18-kilometer-long pedestrian causeway with monumental arches at each end. Kabah is the second largest ruin of the Puuc region, after Uxmal. The most famous structure at Kabah ruins is the Palacio de las Mascaras (the Palace of the Masks), its facade decorated with hundreds of stone masks of the long-nosed rain god Chaac. The site also has a number of other palaces, low stone buildings, and step-pyramid temples travelers will be able to discover and enjoy. ...read less

We enjoyed our trip tremendously

The itinerary was well focused to cover most aspects of this fascinating country and to fulfill our purpose for this trip: history, archaeology, folklore, culture, anthropology and nature. One small note, we would had skipped the stop in Cerocahui and spend the extra day in that lovely little town of El Fuerte, inspite of the unbearable temperature. HOTELS: Hostal de La Noria gave us a junior suite but without a window! They claimed they could not give us a different room because there were no vacancies. We were disappointed because our reservation was made well in advance and were under the impression we had been assigned a last minute’s worst room. Their promise to change room in a couple of days never materialized. At the Okaan Chichen-Itza where we were to spend two full afternoons doing nothing, I was forced to upgrade to a junior suite to be close to the restaurant and to be able to sit on two armchairs instead of on our beds all the time. The lack of a phone in the room and the distance to the reception made the nights unpleasant: you wondered how to cope if something had happened during the night. There were also pleasant surprises: Hotel Mirador gave us a suite. S&S Hip Hotel Tulum upgraded us to a superior ocean view room free of charge. When we were evacuated due to Hurricane Ernesto their staff assisted us in order to send a car to take us to Cancun in the evening. Our heartfelt thanks for sending a car immediately, allowing us to sleep in Cancun and not in a shelter where the police were taking us and flying the following morning to Chihuahua without disrupting our vacation. We enjoyed our trip tremendously and say: mille grazie

Thank you for arranging such an exceptionally good tour

We arrived home on Sunday 5 July after a fantastic 2 weeks in Mexico. The first week’s tour you arranged for us went like a dream. All the Hotels were excellent and our guide was spot on, very informative and flexible in terms of our requirements. What can be said about the sites we visited, they all had something different and special associated with them. For example we visited Chichen Itza first thing in the morning, it was cooler, almost devoid of other people and a wonderful experience.Thank you for arranging such an exceptionally good tour We will definitely be back to use you again

Thank you for arranging the WONDERFUL trip

I write to thank you for arranging the WONDERFUL trip that we took to Central America over our Christmas holidays. We visited the Mayan Ruins at Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Tikal and Copan. All were fascinating, and different in their own way. We learned a great deal, and met some very nice people along the way. Every single guide and driver that you arranged were great. And we enjoyed the hotels that you selected. Thanks again to Angela who went to extra effort to make our airline reservation schedule work.
