Places You'll See
-
Oslo
Oslo is surrounded by the vast forest area of Nordmarka, a great area for team-building activities. Within easy reach, it is possible to go hiking, biking, Nordic walking, or canoeing on one of the many lakes. Winter boasts the opportunity for great skiing, both downhill and cross country, tobogganing, and horse sleigh rides. For those wishing to enjoy a more relaxing activity, wrap up warm and savor a tasty cup of hot chocolate in a lavvo.
-
Flam
At the innermost bank of the Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by steep mountains, thundering waterfalls and narrow valleys, you’ll find the small village of Flam. Good transport connections make Flam easy to reach by train, boat, bus or car and in the spring and summer months, you will see large cruise ships gliding in the Sognefjord with their course set for Flam harbor. From there, it is just a short walk to several hotels, hostels and a camping ground.
-
Bergen
Even though Bergen is Norway’s second-largest city, it has a lovely small-town vibe and atmosphere. Houses clinging to the mountainsides, old wooden architecture, and narrow streets packed with cozy cafes and shops. The Bergen bucket list tends to grow long, so make sure you have enough time. Popular attractions include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Bryggen Hanseatic wharf, the fish market, Mount Fløyen, Bergen Aquarium, and KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes.
-
Kirkenes
Kirkenes is a remote Arctic town located in northeastern Norway near the borders of Finland and Russia. Surrounded by dramatic tundra landscapes and the waters of the Barents Sea, Kirkenes offers a unique glimpse into life in Norway’s far north. The region is known for its Arctic nature, cultural diversity, and proximity to some of the most remote landscapes in Europe.

Arctic Adventure – Norway & Svalbard
My father and I travelled to Svalbard, Norway, this summer. This was our third arctic circle trip in 8 years set up by Monica at Yampu (Iceland, Finland and now Norway), and were each outside the normal Yampu destinations (showing their flexibility). Our itinerary was originally prepared for Greenland but evolved into the Svalbard expedition. Since our interest was in wildlife, Monica made sure that we would be satisfied in our quest for photographing animals–from a remote lodge in Costa Rica, to a remote outpost on the Finnish-Russian border in a bear blind; to a reindeer farm in Alaska; and this time a walrus colony in the Arctic. Yampu mixes luxury and comfort where possible along with a rugged experience that endears you to each location. Every transfer was met, and even small details (like my birthday) were accounted for in surprising way. In a short number of days (9 days total), time was given to visit Oslo and experience the city and culture on the bookends of the trip. Ultimately, after using other travel firms in the past, we will never look back. Yampu is AMAZING!!
