Tour Overview

Drink wine in the foothills of the Andes mountains and experience Argentina In-depth: Exploring Estancias and Vineyards. Mendoza is home to America’s highest mountain, the Aconcagua, and some of the most important wineries in Argentina. Founded by Spanish colonists more than four centuries ago, it is a city rich in history and culture. At El Calafate, we will visit the Estancia Cristina, the breathtaking Upsala Glacier and the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier, one of only three Patagonian glaciers that are not retreating. Iguazu Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world, is taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide. The border with Brazil traverses the Garganta del Diablo, Devil’s Throat, where the falling water creates colorful rainbows. In Buenos Aires, we will visit a typical estancia and attend a tango show.

Whilst of modern construction and dynamic activity, Buenos Aires has managed to preserve old traditions and charming corners. One is fascinated by the atmosphere, the individual personality of each of its neighborhoods, the cordiality of its people and the wide selection of its cultural and commercial opportunities. Buenos Aires, close to the splendid countryside surrounding it, is the great cosmopolitan doorway to South America. The Plaza de Mayo is the hub of activity in the city, while nearby Avenida 9 de Julio is popularly known as the world’s widest avenue. Avenida Santa Fe houses the world’s most fashionable boutiques.

The Iguazu Falls and National Park are the largest in the Americas, surrounded by an amazing wildlife preserve in the middle of the jungle. The deep flowing waters of the river fall from a height of thirty feet through almost three hundred falls over two miles.

We will visit the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier, a true ice river 60kms long that drops down to Lake Argentina, and one of only three Patagonian glaciers that are not retreating. We will also explore the northern tip of the Lago Argentino and the Estancia Cristina to see the breathtaking Upsala Glacier, 30km wide and the largest in the Patagonia.

Adventurers may want to take an optional trek to Laguna de los Tres, which faces the amazing Fitz Roy, and to Laguna Torre. Another optional excursion is in Chile, the Torres del Paine, a spectacular mountain range, which frames the Park of the same name, and extend to heights of up to 9,000 feet.
