Dr. Holms Hotel is a resort hotel located in the ski town of Geilo, Buskerud County, Norway.
Originally established as Dr. Holms Høifjeldshotel in 1909, the hotel opened alongside the inauguration of the Bergen Line connecting Oslo and Bergen. It was founded by Dr. Ingebrigt Christian Holm (1844–1918), a physician and respiratory specialist, who envisioned the resort as a sanctuary where his patients could benefit from the fresh mountain air. Dr. Holm also founded other notable sanatoriums, including Voksenkollen Sanatorium in Vettakollen and Laurviks Bad in Larvik, and played a pivotal role in the establishment of Holmenkollen Turisthotel in Oslo. He stepped away from the active management of Dr. Holms Hotel in 1916.
Following its early years, Norsk Hotelcompagnie Ltd. acquired the property, and the health retreat quickly became a favorite among affluent families and individuals. Over the years, the hotel has evolved into one of Norway’s most iconic resort destinations.
Nestled at the base of Slaatta Skisenter, the hotel is a short ten-minute drive from Geilolia Skisenter on the opposite side of the valley. Its expansive facilities include 127 rooms spread across four floors, two indoor swimming pools, a solarium, gym, sauna, boutique, beauty parlor, babysitting services, and laundry facilities.
Dr. Holms Hotel is currently undergoing a major expansion, adding 7,000 square meters of floor space. This includes additional parking, a new dining area, an upgraded spa, enhanced seminar and meeting facilities, a bowling alley, and residential apartments for sale.
