Custom Travel Experiences Since 1998

Peter, a first-time Yampu Traveler from Manchester England took a once in a lifetime journey to the Galapagos Islands.  Upon his arrival, Peter graciously shared some of the amazing photographs he captured during his travels!

What’s your favorite photo from the trip and why?

The photo from Bartomole across to the Lava fields showing the two sandy beaches and pinnacle rock is my favorite because it encompasses such a variety of habitats in one photo. Being there and looking at that scene was awe-inspiring.

What were some of the things that were different from your expectations?

The general wildlife and Island set-up was as we expected after seeing many television programmes, but being there with the animals in their natural habit was very high on our list of experiences. The thing that surprised us most was how heavily populated by humans some of the Islands were, we didn’t realize that there was such a large population dependent on the tourist trade

Our next trip is on the water, on the Norfolk Broads in the UK on a 4 berth self-drive holiday boat.  The Norfolk Broads is a network of 7 rivers and 63 broads (small lakes) over 117 square miles with a multitude of wildlife habitats. The photo goal will be to document the daily experience and get some good shots of the wildlife.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone heading to the Galapagos for the first time with their camera hoping to get some great shots?

Don’t get hung up with trying to get the perfect technical photo, just take what you feel and try to compose the photos so that the main subject covers more than a third of the frame.

A huge thanks to Peter for sharing his photos with us here at Yampu!
